4-28-13 Visit to our bees

Temperature in low 70's with hardly any wind. Beautiful day. All colonies coming along with brood and Alex also found the queens in two of the colonies. He's getting very good with that as I am always having a hard time finding them. They are hungry bees with all that comb building, with them trying to keep up with the laying of eggs. They are going through sugar water with earnest and I didn't have enough to give them with me, so I stopped out today after my aerial photo shoot. Alex took most of these images. He's getting the hang of that camera.
See the little eggs. Amazing!

Even bees know its better when made in the USA.

The Queen. She's in the center with no stripes.

A little goody left over from last year that they love to feast on.

April 21st bee visit

Visited our bees today. All currently doing well. All have eggs and larvae. Often times it's difficult to find the queens but found them in two of the colonies. In fact in lower left photo of first composite, you can see the queen in lower left of that image. Temps were in mid 60's with fairly gusty winds with rain in forecast.

A few other photos from today

A good day!

Checked all hives today. The "Orchard Hives" both had eggs and the Winery hive I was able to locate The queen, however no eggs found at this point. Photo is of latter.

Spring Release

Released the Queens today. Everything seemed to go well. As you can see in the photo, the workers are already collecting pollen. Not sure what kind of tree or flowers are out right now but they're getting it done.

April 5th pre-installation

Getting ready to install 3 new colonies of bees this weekend. This is a new location in the middle of an apple orchard. 70 degrees with a light breeze this evening. Exciting, but will bring a lot of work the next couple of months.
